How I Met Your Mother: The Ex Games (recap)

By: Jen Smith Fancast.com Big-Blog-Template-HIMYM-Shelter.jpg How I Met Your Mother is totally mind effing us. In a good way, of course. First, we’re convinced that Robin is the mother, then we think it might be Stella, and now we’re back to the beginning again. After last night’s episode, the question of who the mother is has never been more prevalent. When we last left Ted, he had just decided to move to New Jersey of all places because that’s where Stella lives. The date of the wedding is closing in, but it’s come up faster than we all thought. Stella’s sister, who is also engaged, has just called off her wedding. In a sneaky swoop from Stella, she’s decided that she and Ted will take over the wedding plans from her sis and get married the coming Sunday. Wait, whaaa? says Ted. Ted eventually agrees with the plan upon realizing he’s lost his signature spontaneity. Future Ted chimes in to tell us the moral of the story… don’t ever invite exes to your wedding. Of course he’s referring to Robin, whom Ted dated up until a little over a year ago. Robin is stuck over in Tokyo with her big fancy new job and won’t be able to make the wedding anyway. The problem? It’s not really all Robin hoped it would be. It’s basically a combination of a Japanese game show and Fox News… nothing but bright colors and monkeys. Barney, meanwhile, has concocted a mathematical solution to the equation “How can I have sex with Robin again,” and has discovered that the answer is to “get her drunk at Ted’s wedding.” Lily doesn’t think Barney’s schemes will work. There are too many distractions—bridesmaids and whatnot. I was a bridesmaid once… but the only available guy at that wedding was unfortunately a distant relative. Better luck next time.
